EDWARD OKEKE, MBBS MPH
I am presently a doctoral candidate in the Department of Health Management and Policy at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. I’m finishing up a Ph.D in Health Services Organization and Policy with a concentration in Economics. My research interests are in the fields of health and development economics, with a particular emphasis on evaluating the impact of private and public programs on population health. In my dissertation I examine the issue of health worker migration from developing countries, investigating the effect of poor economic conditions in source countries on physician migration from sub-Saharan Africa to the US and the UK. I also exploit a natural experiment and estimate the effect of a governmental increase in doctors’ salaries on out migration.
