Documents from the William B. Bogardus Collection of Brouwer Material

Below you will find compressed PDFs which can be downloaded and opened on your computer. These consist of select documents found in the Brouwer related material collected by William B. Bogardus, of the Anneke Jans and Everardus Bogardus Descendants Association, over the past thirty-five or more years. The collection is temporarily in my hands and during the time I have it I will be adding selected documents for download to this site. The documents will be restricted to “raw” research material. You will not find any compiled genealogies, family group sheets, or pedigrees on this page.

Please also Note: Much of the material in the Collection was personal correspondence between Mr. Bogardus and his “Cousins”. As I am not at liberty to distribute such correspondence, none of it will appear here. Please do not ask me to forward copies of this material to you on an individual basis. The answer in advance is no. All relative info and documents will be added to this page, eventually.

Research Aids, Indexes, etc.

William B. Bogardus has granted me permission to make available by download his publication, “Anneke Jans-Bogardus and Adam Brouwer Research Aid Bibliography.” This publication also includes a short biography of Anneke Jans and Dom. Everardus Bogardus. No.22 Research Aid Bibliography.pdf.zip

Miscellaneous

“Brewer Notes.” These notes were compiled by Shirley Hegeman in 1989 for John W. Taylor (a correspondent of William Bogardus). The notes refer to Brewers in the vicinity of Oneonta, Otsego Co., New York in the 1800’s. BB-239, TMG 2405.pdf.zip

Brouwer Burials at Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY. This list was compiled by William J. Hoffman and was a part of his manuscript notes for his original Brouwer Beginnings articles. Individuals, however, are listed alphabetically by first name. The list might be more helpful if it were arranged by burial plot number (which are included) so that family groups might be more easily identified. If someone would like to undertake the task of rearranging the list by burial plot and submitting it to be included here that would be greatly appreciated. No.166 Bur. Greenwood Cem., TMG 2529.pdf.zip

The 1905 Memoir of Calvin Wheeler Brower. 2423 96-B Calvin W. Brower Memoirs.pdf.zip Calvin W. Brower lived most of his life in Schuylkill County, Pa. He is a descendant of Hubert Brower. There is some genealogical information here along with the interesting story of his life.
