Bill Greene at
Possum Technologies
My full name is William Rupert Greene (neither a Jr. nor a Sr.), but call me “Bill”. My ancestral home is Stokes County, but I now reside in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA (more precisely, in Calvander) and make my living designing and implementing software.
I got hooked on writing software as a 16-year-old student at the North Carolina Governor’s School for Gifted High School Students. The notion of distilling human intelligence into a form that can be executed by a computer fascinated me then and has ever since.
Because I would rather start with requirements than with existing software, I find the development activities of research organizations most satisfying.
The software I create is correct, efficient, useful, maintainable, elegant, readable and timely. I care deeply about software quality, and I take it personally.
I do the full life cycle of software system design and development for systems having exacting requirements for reliability and performance, and operating in geographically distributed, real-time or embedded environments. I am also interested in sensor net, low-power and nanoscale environments.
I have developed in many programming languages at different levels of abstraction on numerous platforms.
At present I am available for work.
