do you facebook? what about twitter? social networks with status updates are all the rage & i’m completely into both of them.

it’s interesting to find out what people are thinking and doing. what an ingenious concept, really... when you call someone, the first thing you usually ask is ‘what are you doing?’. and, so, it’s the premise of both sites.

one of my fav things about facebook is the live commentary on everyday life. it’s kind of like posting something out to your friends the moment you think of it... wait, it’s exactly like that actually. ;)
it’s made watching american idol SO much more fun this year. my ‘friend’ cathy zielske posts throughout the show with running commentary. seriously, how can you not love reading these comments:

there are a lot of these types of videos online. maybe i’ve even mentioned them here & called your attention to them. i’m always mesmerized and intrigued by them. i’d love to be there in person when something like this happens.

but this one... this one made me cry and smile and get that swell of humanity that makes my half-full glass runneth over. take a few minutes & watch this. you’ll be glad you did!

twlight fever

did you know that edward cullen (aka the lead character in the twilight series) almost died of influenza in 1918? the photo above is something i found when I googled the flu.

and, guess what?... abigail was just diagnosed with influenza A or B (we didn’t do the test to find out which one...neither one has a cure or meds that will help much).

so we’ve gone from watching twilight all weekend to having the flu & being stuck at home for a while. so.. i wonder how many times she’ll watch the movie over the next several days?!

here’s hoping the flu shots protect rich & i!!

twilight madness

this weekend has been ‘twilight madness’ in our house. abigail & i went to buy the dvd yesterday morning after karate class and she has watched it about 6 or 7 times plus watched all of the extended scenes several times over. she camped out in her room yesterday & most of today with the movie on her laptop since rich has taken over the tv in the living room to watch basketball.

last night i went to yet another lia sophia jewelry party (my 4th so far) AND after the jewelry selling and snacking/drinking had subsided, the group crowded around the tv and we watched twilight. several in the room had never seen it so there was quite a bit of questioning & explaining going on. i’m going to have to watch it again alone or with abby so i can focus on it without the commentary. it’s not the world’s best movie, but i do get swept away by the story.

in other news (is there other news?)...
•i’m taking abigail to visit my mom for spring break in april. i’ll take 2 days off and go stay with her Easter weekend before bringing abby back home. i’m excited to see Mom again and it sounds like she’s planning some fun things for her to do with abby that week.
•3rd quarter is finished at school & abby’s grades are again fantastic! she got 1 B and the rest are A+, A, A-! this means that she only has 9 weeks left of 6th grade!!
•abigail has been staying after school for track; she’s working on learning to throw the shotput & discus
•we booked our trip to vegas for may; we’re staying at the Bellagio and i’m super excited to spend the weekend with rich & also my brother & SIL! we’ll hit jimmy buffet’s margaritaville bar/grille on rich’s birthday.
•i heard a rumor last night that our hobby lobby is closing...anyone know if that’s true?

in like a lion

experiencing a bit of deja vu today, we spent some time in the basement with the sirens blaring outside. the rain & wind was crazy! some areas of town had damage, but we luckily escaped with nothing.

last week abigail survived ISAT testing, a horrible cold & ear infection and her consultation trip to the orthodontist. she’s going to revisit the braces issue in 6 months when her last 2 baby teeth will likely be gone.

we’re ending the weekend by watching our Hairspray dvd together. i love that movie! absolutely love to listen to Queen Latifah sing as they march.

while I sat tonight, i played again with digital scrapbooking. here is the result of my efforts. i’m not thrilled with it, but it gave me the chance to practice the things i learned last weekend.
