“Tim Barnwell’s legacy to our program goes beyond baseball – he was a model family man. Tim became my personal friend after Scott and Chris played for me and he taught me valuable lessons on how to be a parent. Having a daughter and a son (who is a baseball player) I learned from Mr. Barnwell how to be a “baseball dad.”
Tim was a generous and giving man who would treat every kid like he did his own children. He was proud of his children, but equally proud to hear about other children who were successful either in baseball or life. Tim was a positive role model for me and our family. He is the guy you would call if your car broke down on a dark road in the middle of the night – he would come help you.”

The Tim Barnwell Memorial Scholarship
Tim Barnwell devoted countless hours to Flagler College and the Baseball Program, from building the stadium in which families and fans gather, to cheering on his own two sons while they played. Even years after both his sons had graduated from Flagler, you could always find him right on the fence, even at practices. Tim rarely missed a game.
And Tim didn’t just root for his own kids. He was a true fixture of the team and spread the joy of the game wherever he went. He loved seeing all the young athletes grow with their team, and he became friends with many of the parents of the players as well. Many students, both players and fans, often referred to Tim as their Flagler dad, as he provided them with support and advice when they were away from home. Tim could talk to and relate to anyone. This was his gift, which he shared with everyone around him.
Tim was also an exceptional General Contractor. As President and CEO of Barnwell and Associates, Tim was an integral part of building and restoring many of St. Augustine's commercial buildings, including Flagler Hospital and many of Flagler College's structures.
Because of the way Tim touched the lives of all those around him, Flagler College is proud to honor Tim’s memory and support of the Flagler College Baseball Program. With this scholarship, the family and friends of Tim Barnwell along with Flagler College hope to give one student athlete a chance to receive an excellent education and to compete for the team that Tim loved.
Together as a community we can accomplish this by doing what Tim did so well. Caring. That is all it takes. Remember, this scholarship will last forever. This is the biggest tribute we, as friends and family could pay to Tim. For this to be an endowed scholarship, we must reach $25,000 or greater. We feel that this will easily obtained with all of our efforts and resources. The more we money raise, the larger the scholarship we can provide. This scholarship will be available to one deserving baseball player every year, a student athlete who exemplifies the characteristics of Tim Barnwell, by exhibiting kindness, the desire to be a team player, a strong work ethic, and community involvement.

You can easily donate online by clicking here. If you wish to mail your check then the donations should be made out to Flagler College Baseball with “Tim Barnwell Scholarship” on the Memo Line and mailed to Flagler College Baseball.
** All donations are tax deductible. Those who donate will be honored on our site.
About the Scholarship
Recipient must satisfy all of the following criteria to be eligible.

• Have a GPA that is of Flagler College Baseball’s standards
