No longer do people run straight to the tap for a drink when they are thirsty - instead they reach for a bottle of water.  In recent years, bottled water consumption has increased tremendously.  A bottle of water, which once seemed an indulgence, is now a staple in the everyday lives of Americans.

According to a California Report, more than 1 billion of these plastic water bottles (made from a polyester, Polyethylene terephthalate, or PET) are thrown out each year. If recycled, 1 billion plastic bottles could be used to make 74 million t-shirts, 16 million sweaters and generate $26 million in Refund Value

Instead, these bottles are taking over landfill space, and, when incinerated along with waste, release toxic emissions into the atmosphere.

we created this site to explore the rise in bottled water, the effect this rise is having on our environment, and the policies and changes that have been implemented by water companies and legislature alike.
