How I met John...

I was fortunate enough to meet John when he worked at Wolf Camera. I had convinced my mother that if she went there, she would be able to deal with a sales associate that was really knowledgeable about cameras. She didn't want to go alone. So she dragged my youngest sister and I to the store with her. We were greeted by John who of course knew exactly which camera would be right for her. No need for my sis and I to be there at all. But he thought I was cute and although he and other associates guessed me to be no more than I think 22, he decided he was going to flirt with me anyway. I was oblivious to it all. My sister and mom both saw it as painfully obvious, but I was clueless. After the whole sale was over, John offered help if she wanted him to give her an overview of the camera to make it easy to understand and begin to use. When my mom called him at the store to see if he had time to go over the camera with her, he replied "Yes, and bring Annette". I STILL didn't have a clue but I went with my mother anyway thinking that I was there to help my mom retain all the info he was going to give her on her new camera. In between the details he showed her, he would ask questions of me like what type of music do I listen to? Who is my favorite artist? He mentions he has photos of a recent Aerosmith concert he just shot at Red Rocks and runs off to go get them. Then again with the questions. So where do you work? I reply that I am a nail tech at Vermilion Hair Design. He asks for a card since he could send business my way. I give him one without too much worry since there is no home phone or address as I am starting to wonder of his intentions. He of course could only drag this on for so long since there is only so much he can show my mom on the new camera. I am relieved to finally leave the store, but as we walk to the door I did glance back to notice him still with his eyes on us as we left. The following week at work, his name was in my books for a manicure. He came in with his photo albums to show off his pride and joy, concert photos. I was impressed, and after spending 45 minutes doing a manicure on this guy, I was already very interested in him as well. We had our first date one week later. He swept me off my feet. He never did anything half heartedly. Including how he proposed to me with the help of his good friend Steve, and his boss at Red Rocks, Jay Ruybal who was playing at the Gothic with his band. He cleverly got me on stage at the Gothic Theatre here in Englewood under the facade of winning an award. He then knelt down on one knee and proposed. He was the most loving guy I have ever known. We were truly soul mates. He took my son under his wing immediately and both of us into his heart. We will miss him deeply, I am so glad I was able to share this last five years with him. It was worth every minute.

His memorial service was held January 4th 2007 at Highline Community Church
6325 S University Centennial Co.
From 3:30 to 7pm

Thank you all who were able to be there. I am so glad I was able to meet so many of you. I would have liked to have the opportunity to get to know all of you better and to hear more of the stories of how he touched your lives. Whether that be in person or through e-mail or phone, please reach out and let me know you. Everyone John knew was special to him in some way. That makes you special to me as well. Take care and never let a day pass that you don't show your love to those who are dear to you!
