Hart: Looking  At Art

What is Aesthetic Education?
Aesthetic Education is learning how to look at art works, form an opinion and justify that opinion based on what is observed. The truly wonderful aspect of aesthetics is that everyone does see the world differently.  Parents attend training sessions with our trainer Mrs. Helane Rheingold. Then they teach classes of students to examine art works by looking for the way the elements of art are used in the artworks. Students and parents discover the many different viewpoints different people have of artworks. Classroom lessons are a prelude to a trip to the Metropolitan Museum in 3rd & 4th Grade and to the Neuberger Museum in 5th Grade.

Our program has been developed over the past four years with the support of grants from various sponsors. This is the first year we have been without grant support. The program is relying on the generosity of the PTO for funding  to be able to afford our museum trips and our trainer.
