Random beginning thoughts:

1. -Oh, a double elimination this week.  Ewwww.
   

2. -Two new dances and 2 of my very favorite dances EVER - Argentine Tango & Jitterbug/Lindy; I can’t wait.
   

3. -Oh, does anyone notice how epic the orchestra tries to be these days.
   

4. -Samantha Harris’ voice is starting to sound like Bea Arthur.  She must have a cold.
   

Now for my reviews of the couples:

DAVID & KYM - Lindy Hop.

Preview Package:  I love that she took him to a Lindy night, it really gives a flavor of what it looks like when it’s done right.  I also love how they used their time at the lindy group to drum up votes.

Fashion Thoughts: David, never been a fan of white jacket tuxes.  Kym in a red somewhat tropical lindy outfit two piece.

Dancing: I really give them credit because she made the choreography really hard with all the tricks and he did his best to keep up.  I love him, but he’s probably going to get some complaints about his footwork. I am, however impressed that he kept up the momentum throughout and didn’t peter out half way through. You go David!

Judges Score:  22 (I think it’s a fair score).

LIL’ KIM & DEREK - Argentine Tango.

Preview Package:  What’s up with Derek’s hair?  Um, I don’t get the whole, doesn’t it look like I have hat-hair look.  She’s a sure-fire hard worker.  Ooh, Derek just admitted he’s an argentine tango novice.  Could be interesting?

Fashion Thoughts: Lil’ Kim is wearing a beautiful rust and black tango dress (off the shoulder and very sparkly), her hair is classy too - I must admit this show is really increasing her class level.   Great fitted suit on Derek, ooh lah, lah.

Dancing: She’s doing fantastically, she has the attitude down and I’m amazed at her flexibility.  I had no idea.  She’s also doing a great job of using her legs.  They were incredible and sensational, unfortunately there’s a need of some smaller movement and it’s a little bit telling that Derek was unsure of his choreography.  I especially loved that just when I was about to criticize that they needed to work on their closeness, they DO IT!

Judges Score:  27 (Len looked terrified when Bruno was giving his comments, it was funny; a perfect score for an almost perfect dance.)

CHUCK & JULIANNE - Lindy Hop.

Preview Package:  Chuck is very hesitant about the over the back flip.  Wow, he’s actually terrified.  As a true mate, Julianne worked with it.  Good for them.

Fashion Thoughts: They are in a red and white 50s dinner or soda shop motif.  Can I get a chocolate malt? 

Dancing: I want him to let go a little more, he’s trying really hard and maybe a little too hard.  Oh, his attempt at a trick towards the end was less than stellar.  I am a little disappointed by this.

Judges Score:  22 (I thought Carrie Anne was a tad generous.)

LAWRENCE & EDYTA - Argentine Tango.

Preview Package:  Poor Lawrence always looks like he’s on the verge of tears.  I love that he just asked Edyta if he’ll still be married at the end of this dance.  There is some pressure-tension in their practices.  I love that Edyta gets to dance with her husband Alec Mazo...are they a hot couple or what?

Fashion Thoughts: Edyta’s black tango dress is gorgeous and may be my favorite dress of the night so far.  Of course it’s see through...it is Edyta of course. 

Dancing:  Lawrence is giving this everything he has, but he looks awkward and his moves are really large.  Keep them smaller, especially the footwork.  I wanted to love it, but I’ll just say it was okay for me.

Judges Score:  19 (Yeah, about right.)

TY & CHELSEA - Lindy Hop.

Preview Package:  I’m so glad that they gave Ty props on his save last week - it was like an old pro!  He’s really working hard to loosen up during the practice, and as I anticipated, his strength should get him doing some amazing tricks.

Fashion Thoughts: It takes a man’s man to pull off a pink shirt, and she’s wearing a fun pink and black plaid swing dress number. 

Dancing:  He’s doing a lot better than I thought he’d do, and he’s really let go with this performance thanks to a lot of the added tricks.  He vascilates between stiff and stupendous.  Good effort!

Judges Score:  25 (Yea, about right indeed!)

STEVE & KARINA - Argentine Tango.

Preview Package:  God I hate how negative the Judges look even before he performs.  Bias?  Who knows.  What’s going on with Karina’s hair - love is a battlefield.  Karina is really good at Argentine Tango, so hopefully she can get him on board.  I’m so glad he’s making light of the whole judges hate me, fans love me.  Indeed.  THE GEEKS SHALL INHERIT THE EARTH!

Fashion Thoughts: I think Karina stole her outfit from Edyta’s closet - a red bra and a flag.  Steve searing a black suit with red accents. 

Dancing:  He didn’t get the concept of flicks with his footwork, and that’s sad.  I love how cheeky he is though and he’s doing a great job with the lifts for Karina, so that’s impressive.  The judges will be hateful, and I hate that.  At least he’s trying.

Judges Score:  12 (Thank you for the kind comments Len, it was better.  I hate how negative Carrie Anne and Bruno are.)

MELISSA & TONY - Lindy Hop.

Preview Package:  It’s funny, she looks so different on performance night than she does during practices.  Funny...so do I.  Melissa just got a face package.  Wow.  I think she might rock this - do those tricks!!!!

Fashion Thoughts: Cute pink polka dot lindy dress, and Tony in pinstripe pants.  Cute.

Dancing:  So far the tricks are fierce!  She’s definitely got elements of a dancer’s performance and I’m impressed with her.  Wow, she really took a lot of risks and frankly if she keeps these performances up, she may win me over!

Judges Score:  29 (Well deserved!)

HOLLY & DIMITRY - Argentine Tango.

Preview Package:  She has a very painful muscle injury in her ribs and I know that feeling.  It sucks butt.  I love Dimitry.

Fashion Thoughts: Classy white number with a bit too much notice on how large her fake breasts are.  Dimitry in a pinstripe suit. 

Dancing:  He is hot to watch.  She is painful to watch.  If it wasn’t for Dimitry, I’m not sure she’d be good.  She started off like she had no idea what dance she was doing.  Her footwork is annoying and very very lacking.  Plus, she’s still doing the annoying nervous laugh.  I HATE IT! 

Judges Score:  16 (Um, yeah.)

STEVE-O & LACEY - Lindy Hop.

Preview Package:  Wow, he looks awkward in the beginning stages of this practice.  He’s really stressed out.  She got him a surprise and he’s wearing a clown outfit.  I’m glad they discussed that he went to clown college, I think people should know that.  He’s not just a Jackass.

Fashion Thoughts: The are in lindy-style outfits that make them look like bubble-gum advertisements or cotton candy.  Blue and pink.  Silly.

Dancing:  He’s really trying so hard, but his energy level is all over the place and I want him to do well.  He’s rocking the tricks hard core though and I’m very impressed with that.  Sadly though, I think he may get some negative remarks from the Judges.  Why does Johnny Knoxville look so odd lately.

Judges Score:  15 (Um, how did that get less than Holly’s routine.  Suck.)

GILLES & CHERYL - Argentine Tango.

Preview Package:  God he’s easy on the eyes.  If they aren’t dating, I’m shocked.  “Pretend you’re in love with me?” Damn he’s a good actor then.  Sheeze!

Fashion Thoughts: Gilles in a sweet pinstripe suit with a hint of purple, and Cheryl in a hot purple dress.

Dancing:  If that’s acting, wow.  There was an intensity in his performance with her that speaks to the Argentine tango styling.  My favorite Tango of the night.  Sensational.  I’m so amazed at how good he is as a dancer/performer.

Judges Score:  30 (FIRST of the season!  I couldn’t agree more.  I LOVE THEM!)

SHAWN & MARK - Lindy Hop.

Preview Package:  Shawn takes him to the gym - he looks so goofy trying to do anything gymnastic wise.  She should ROCK the tricks on this one.

Fashion Thoughts: Can you say gym-shorts, I know you can.  Both of them, complete with dorky elements - glasses and headband on Mark.

Dancing:  She’s doing great with the tricks and lifts, but for some reason the fun isn’t as there as much as I would like it to be.  She’s cute and all, and it was good and all, but I wanted a bit more abandon.  Oh well, she’ll get a good score anyhow.

Judges Score:  25 (Yup.)
