from London through the year

Leaves are still unwrapping

Slowly reveal soft insides

No-one notices

Above hurrying

People scurrying to work

Nature quietly continues

Lime leaves unfurl

Soon it will be dark

Inside my sitting room

Buttercup carpet

Kindly covers corpses

Of daffodils and paper cups

Bluebells

Spikily elbow

fading buttercups

Rain needles city trees

They don’t respond

But shelter soulful blackbirds

In London

Pavements still matching

The sky

cool morning

touches my arm

scented with lime flower

A flash of yellow

Among the sticky lime leaves

  1.   The Goldcrest attacks

  1.    Abandoned gym mats

  2.    Blue in the grey rain playground

  2. Exploring rotten apples

  1. Bigger than a cat

  2. Brown head down in the streetlight

  3. The urban foxtrot

  1. Wintry twittering

  2. Grey October London air

  3. Robin back on song

  1. Blue black window view

  2. Unzipped corner to corner

  3. By the kid’s firework

  1. In Morrisons aisle

  2. An old man with child bright eyes

  3. Cradles Christmas sweets

  1. Tottering gently

  2. Towards the nearest checkout

  3. With Celebrations
