How to Make Flibbers, etc.
About a month or two ago, Andrew’s mom let David take home this wonderful book. We are not sure whose it was originally (Andrew does not recall it), but it is one of those treasures that she carefully kept for the day when the grandchildren might use it. You might recognize the author, Robert Lopshire, from his book Put Me in the Zoo.
This is the kind of book I would have adored as a child. For about a week the children made every single craft in this book. It is so charming in its simplicity. It’s not a flashy DK style book, nor are there any groundbreaking new crafts, but the children adore it. I would call these the all-time classic kids’ crafts, that your children should make at least once in their life. Here are some of their creations:
The boys’ favorite creation is called a twirly-bird, and involves a cork, a toothpick, and some paper flying through the air. Sorry I don’t have a picture of that one, but it really calls for a video anyway.
I’m so sad to say this book is out of print. If you can find it on paperback swap or at a library, check it out!
