S&C Beluga and Firecracker hat
A new free pattern by Susan B. Anderson on the Spud & Chloe blog . . . I have so much S&C Sweater yarn lying around, I had lots of color combinations to choose from! I liked the color combo used in the pattern, and I had almost full skeins of Beluga and Firefly, but when I held the Beluga and Firecracker yarns together, that looked best to me.
Knit on US 7 16” circulars and dpns - I made the following modifications to the pattern because the hat seemed to be getting REALLY big, and I like hats that fit on top (instead of the slouchy look):
10 rounds of ribbing (instead of 15)
On the third time through Rounds 18-27, I went only to Rnd 25 - I skipped the last repeat of Rounds 18-22 and went right to the decrease rounds - I knit Decrease Rounds 1 and 2 as written, then switched to Firecracker and skipped Rounds 3 and 6 (so that I was decreasing every round to the end). The fast decrease gives the crown of the hat a “pulled-in” look, but I like it.
