ten years later

September 11, 2011

It’s been a normal busy weekend.  I spent Friday with my grandparents and sister Katie, Saturday running errands, running the dish, watching the BYU game and listening to Stake Conference.  Today President Jacobsen was released and President Dow Wilson was called to be the new Stake President.  I sat in the meeting with Melissa, Natalee, and Troy.  Matt and Wendy sat behind us.  A fairly typical weekend, all in all.  Spent living life and loving my friends and family.

Ten years ago today, a few madmen tried to take that away from me.   I remember a lot about that day-  the fear, the sense of horror, the anger and disbelief, and the overwhelming sense of sadness.   But what I remember most is the pure, unfiltered way that people immediately reached out for one another as if to brace ourselves against the inevitable tragedy of a shattered peace.

I remember the way we loved.
