CoCoFEST! 2009 DVD

Allen Huffman’s 2009 Chicago CoCoFEST! Video Trip Report now available on DVD!

On Friday, May 27th, 2009, I loaded up my Toyota Prius and departed from Des Moines, Iowa on a six hour journey to Elgin, Illinois for the 18th Annual “Last” Chicago CoCoFEST! As with many years in the past, I documented my journey with an after-the-fact trip report, which I shared on this site.

I also recorded quite a bit of high definition video of the event, including every seminar and interviews with many of the event attendees and vendors. And now, just in time (barely!) for the 2010 CoCoFEST! I am making the first DVD available for $5 plus shipping.

This disc includes:

  1. The Drive (7:04) - after reading my quirky reports for years, now you can come along with me as I travel the interstates and tollways to Elgin.

  2. Saturday at the Fest (8:41) - a video summary of the first day of the Fest, including Tony Podraza talking about the huge bounty of CoCo gear they had donated to the show.

  3. No Minimum Bid Auction (12:31) - ever wanted to experience this Fest tradition, but haven’t been able to make a show? Here’s a bit of what they are like, from a rare X-Pad to an autographed copy of Steve Bjork’s Audio Spectrum Analyzer ROM Pak.

  4. Saturday Night Music Jam (11:37) - Brother Jeremy leads various musically inclinded (and not so inclined) festival attendees on a Saturday night music jam session. Hear the musical monk (vocals and guitar), James Jones (on recorder), Rich Bair (on trumpet) and Bob Swoger (on guitar)  perform “Hello Darling” (a tribute song to Kevin Darling to try to get the OS-9 Level 2 Upgrade code released years ago), “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” and some special audio playback from Brother Jeremy’s English choir boys.

  5. Interviews (26:31) - short interviews with: John Strong, Karl Sefcik, Linda Podraza, John Mark Mobley, Robert Gibons, William Astle (from Canada, eh?), Richard Baer, Mark Marlette, Malcolm Cleveland, Barbara Morris, Richard Crislip, Bob “Gator” Swoger, Brian Schubring, George Bethea, Boisy Pitre, Eddie Kuns, Nancy Hawks, Tony Podraza, Brother Jeremy, James Jones, and the late Howard Luckey.
