Fest: Day 2
Fest: Day 2
First thing’s first... As the “Wheel of Fortune”-ish game revealed, “Yes Virginia, there will be another CoCoFEST!” This announcement was made in the early afternoon on Sunday.
Sunday was a pretty dead day. No seminars, and even the no-minimum-bid auction just kind of fizzled out. A few “not there on Saturday” faces were seen, but nothing dramatic. I think some of the folks I missed interviewing on Saturday were not around on Sunday, or I just missed them.
Sadly, no real “new” stuff this year. In the past few Fests, we’ve seen the Donkey Kong port to 6809, the CoCo VGA adapter, and a variety of other small but fun items.
On second thought, there was a new item there that someone had brought. John Linville had one of the RS232 paks from Roger Taylor, that instead of having DB25 serial plug on the end, it used a Bluetooth chip inside to transmit and receive the RS232 data wirelessly. If you pair it with a PC using a terminal program that has a COM port hooked to Bluetooth, you can then do whatever you would be able to do with a cable. So, RS232 serial without the wire. Kinda neat. I wish Roger would make it out there -- he’s been cranking out new stuff for years, and I’ve never seen any of it represented at the fest. He’d make bank!
Anyway, that’s a wrap! It was a great family reunion.
Well, Saturday certainly is the day for “stuff” at the Fest compared to the lack of “stuff” on Sunday...
