2008

We finished off 2008 with a 1 X 60 second 35mm. global TVC for visa card, produced by Agenda Film Productions with the Los Angeles agency TBWA Chiat/Day. We Location scouted this job with acclaimed Director Iain McKenzie (Qantas “Still call Australia home” etc.) and during the shoot Location Managed and Unit managed the crew of 25. The 5 Agency personnel from LA were a brave bunch considering the heat and flies, and especially given that the day before they were in a Tasmanian rainforest with their teeth chattering!

In 08 we were also happy to see the premiere of the Baz Luhrmann film “Australia”, we were

Locations Scouts for the film in both Central Australia and  Kununurra, where most of it was ultimately shot.  It’s quite strange sometimes to see something you worked on 3 years ago suddenly

make the big time!

Early in 2008 we were Location Fixers with ITV Productions (UK) and their documentary production

“Martin Clunes: A man and his dogs” (see testimonials) and had a great time traversing the outback shooting dingoes (with a camera of course) The crew were great and so was Martin who took the challenge in his stride, even when we had to shoot at the local rubbish tip!

Another UK crew arrived in March, this time from BBC 4 and their reknowned Natural History Unit.

ASFTV supplied a small unit and Location fixed this 1 X 60 minute documentary on Central Australia, ”Wilderness explored”, which screened in the UK to much critical acclaim towards the end of the year. (also see testimonials)

2007

Location highlights included a Honda Japan stills campaign at Rainbow Valley. We also provided a rustic outback town look for a Tigerlily swimwear shoot (see Australian Traveller magazine report http://www.australiantraveller.com.au/index.cfm?page_id=2260) and spent 8 days in the desert near Gosses Bluff with National Geographic Magazine for their July 08 edition. We worked with RTL Croatia and with ITV UK on locations involving remote Aboriginal communities.

2006

Looking back on 06, March/April saw us Location Scout and manage a video clip for the well-known Japanese hip-hop band Ketsumeishi. ASFTV also supplied remote Unit to make life bearable (and safe) for cast and crew.

Later in the year we pushed into Australia’s North again, into the crocodile-infested waters of Kakadu National Park scouting for the OPTA agency and their famous “where the bloody hell are you?” tourism campaign.

We spent 3 weeks travelling the desert with the cast and crew of Lonely Planet Television’s “Going Bush” documentary series for SBS TV. ASFTV supplied personnel, full catering, camp and emergency equipment for this challenging desert exercise. Presenters Cathy Freeman (star of the Sydney 2000 Olympics) and Actor Luke Carrol were true professionals and a pleasure to work with.

We were also Location Managers and scouts for the Disney Channel Kid’s series “Double Trouble”, and completed the year working with renowned London Agency Dewynters PLC on a week-long photoshoot for the Royal Ballet, providing Location scouting and Production Management in Australia for their world-class stills campaign designed for the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.

2005

Mid-year we completed work as Location Manager on the Nine Network/Southern Star series of “The Alice”. This is a 22 X 1 hr TV series.

We also returned from our second location scouting job for acclaimed director Baz Luhrmann’s “Australia” project, this time in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.

2004

At year’s beginning, Alice Springs Film and Television were Location Fixers for BBC TV on the very popular live-to-air game show “Lottery Jet Set”.

From February to April we Location Scouted and Managed for the Southern Star Production Pilot of “The Alice”, a 1 X 90 minute Telemovie shot on super-16 for the Nine Network Australia.

In October 2004 we were location scouting for the Columbia Tri-star production of “Ghostrider”, a US $80million feature starring Nicolas Cage and based on the Marvel comic-book character.

2003

A the beginning of the year we Location scouted the video clip “Forever precious” for Australian artist Kitana in Bali, Indonesia.

In the middle of 2003 we completed location scouting in Central Australia for the $310 million Dino De Laurentis production of the epic feature “Alexander the Great”, which will be directed by Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge).

Another client for the year was Chatsworth TV (UK) for BBC 2. This entailed location-fixing for the helicopter-based international quiz show “Treasure Hunt”, filmed in and around Alice Springs.

2010

Last year we shot stories for ABC TV’s “7.30 Report” SBS and 7 Network news and SBS TV’s “Living Black” programs. We’ve worked with the Jimmy Little Foundation filming mobile dialysis units, National Australia Bank for NAB TV, Location fixed for Rise Communications Sydney on a photoshoot for a Japanese client and with Photoplay Productions Sydney filming a live John Butler trio concert.

We completed a new music video for ABC Music, “Great Southern Land”, with Warren H  Williams and various corporate films including projects for Ingenero Solar and Kenworth trucks . Currently ASFTV are working with National Geographic Magazine on a major project and discussing locations for both a feature film and TV mini series for the Alice Springs region.

2009

An eventful year, as usual.

We Location fixed for Proudfoot Films from London shooting Awards footage for their client Rolex (broadcast on CNN internationally) . We set up locations for Icon Films out of Bristol shooting Animal Planet TV’s  ”Nick Baker’s weird creatures”.  On top of that we spent no less than 8 days and nights hunting for the elusive marsupial mole throughout the region. Later on we set up several locations for  a great crew from BBC Science, helping produce their new, major 5 hour series “How the Earth made us”. The helicopter shots alone should make you want to watch it!

(see story at the world’s leading Locations website, the Location Guide: http://www.thelocationguide.com/news_detail.aspx?id=318)

We also fixed (amongst other things) for Storyhouse Productions U.S.  the National Geographic Channel documentary “2012:The Final prophecy”. The program has already been aired in primetime in the U.S. and elsewhere.

Our Location scouting year ended with National Geographic magazine, completing a recce for an upcoming feature with Photojournalist Amy Toensing.
