In May of 2006 the Association of Alaska School Boards convinced the state legislature to appropriate $5 M toward technology in education specifically centered around one-to-one laptop programs. Thus was born the Association of Alaska School Board’s Consortium for Digital Learning (AASB-CDL). One of the primary goals of the AASB was to provide adequate professional development for the districts involved in its consortium. Working in partnership with Apple, Inc. a plan was developed to hire in-state professional development consultants and trainers to provide that PD to its districts.

In 2008 the AASB-CDL was infused with a new round of funding and 6 new districts joined us as well as 6 that applied for a refresh of equipment and training. This brings the total number of districts involved to 28. Four of these districts use a Windows-based solution while the other 24 use an Apple-based solution. For a complete list of those districts, please visit the AASB-CDL site.

This is the site for Apple Professional Development in Alaska. It is intended as a resource for students, teachers and administrators involved in the AASB-CDL. We built this site for you. Please enjoy and send us suggestions for resources and improvements.
