For Chloe and Kyle Davidson, music is all about fun and kids inspiring kids. This award-winning brother/sister act has been putting smiles on faces since they started fiddling together at the ages of three and five. Backed by parents, Ken and Celeste (drums, keyboard & guitar), their repertoire is a comprehensive mix of musical styles from Celtic to Quebecois, blues to boogie, Metis to hoedown, and klezmer to classical!
Delighting audiences from the Hawaiian Islands to the Rocky Mountains, and all the way down the California coast to Frontierland in Disneyland, Chloe and Kyle have shared their toe-tapping music for the past five years at Kelowna’s Life and Arts Festival and Parks Alive! outdoor concerts. They have also been featured at repeat performances for Kelowna’s Canada Day celebrations, Mardi Gras, the Fat Cat Children’s Festival, SHAW TV and Robbie Burns nights.
These talented young fiddlers played for the 2008 BC Summer Games; are the winners of the Big White and Silver Star Idol contests; and they have taken first place in both the Shuswap and Kelowna Fiddle Contests. Performing solo, Chloe won the prestigious Grand Champion title at the 2006 Shuswap Fiddle Contest and is known for her amazing skill as a hula-hooping fiddler, as seen on YouTube. Now, eight and ten, Chloe and Kyle are set to take you on a high-spirited musical ride in their very special presentation, “Around the World in 45 Minutes”. In this audience participation performance, the duo along with special guest dancers, will have you line dancing, doing the hora, and even a Cossack move or two! Passengers on this trip of a lifetime will get to play in their very own “Jungle Band” and “Gypsy Tambourine Troupe!” Fasten your seat belts. With Chloe and Kyle in the driver’s seat, we’re on a collision course with fun!
Summer and fall, 2008, Chloe and Kyle, ages 8 and 10, performed in the fabulous Salmon Arm Roots & Blues Festival, were semi-finalists in the Vancouver PNE’s Red Robinson Talent Showdown (voted fan favourites!) and chosen to play in the Archie Neil Youth Showcase at Cape Breton’s wonderful Celtic Colours In’tl Festival. A highlight of their east coast trip was learning Cape Breton fiddle from Wendy MacIsaac, Stan Chapman, Mairi Rankin and Andrea Beaton. The trip’s grand finale was playing at the Rankin’s famed Red Shoe Pub in Mabou, Cape Breton (photo video below). Among other upcoming concerts, May 2009 takes Chloe & Kyle to the Vancouver Int’l Children’s Festival.
