Team RAAM Sarcoma powered by BACCHETTA bikes
RAAM is a race! But unlike the three great European Grand Tours (Tour de France, Vuelta a Espana and Giro de Italia), RAAM is not a stage race. RAAM is one continual stage, similar to a time trial. Once the clock starts on the beach at Oceanside, CA, it does not stop until the finish line in Annapolis, MD. RAAM is about 30% longer than the Tour de France stages combined, and racers must complete the distance in roughly half the time allowed for the Tour.
RAAM is open to professional and amateur cyclists alike. While solo racers must pre-qualify to compete, anyone may organize a team and race.
Racers must traverse 3,000 miles across 12 states and climb over 170,000 vertical feet. That’s 32 miles straight up! Team racers have a maximum of nine days and most finish in about seven and a half days. Teams will ride 350-500 miles a day, racing non-stop. Solo racers have a maximum of 12 days to complete the race, with the fastest finishing in just over eight days. Solo racers will ride 250-350 miles a day, balancing speed and the need for sleep.
Our Team - Team RAAM Sarcoma powered by Bacchetta Bikes
Our Motto – “We choose the obstacle as our path”. The path - 3,000 miles across America. The obstacle - you guessed it; 3,000 miles across America.
Our goals
1.Raise awareness regarding Sarcoma, a challenge being faced daily by our crew chief Javid (David) Bradley.
2.Promote the cause of bicycling everywhere, and at every age. Our team ranges in age from 35 to 62 and each will pull their equal share of the load.
3.Realize the ultimate dream of nearly every ultra cyclist worldwide by completing the world’s toughest race, the Race Across America.
4. Promote the benefit, awareness and absolute fun of recumbent cycling.
RAAM = Race Across America...this ain’t no tour
