the cat’s eye
the cat’s eye
You can say that I probably fell into photography accidentally. No, really. When I was in film school I wanted to learn as much as I could about film and framing. My girlfriend (now my wife) told me to take a class in photography. I never gave it any thought, so I did. My first teacher was a man named Bob Edgington. If he taught me anything it was to not be afraid of taking chances. Push the so called envelope. I used to spend hours in the dark room trying all kind of things. I continued photography classes for another year but later decided, because of mostly financial reasons, to stop photography and finish my BA in English and Film Studies. Needless to say its always been a decision I regretted. By the time I got back into it the digital age had arrived. I must be honest, I went into the digital age kicking and screaming. But as technology has gotten better (such as full frame cameras that can record HD video) I have grown to accept this change. As soon as the wife finishes her Doctorate I’ll be heading back to school for an MFA in photography. I’m interested in learning more about the post processes like Photoshop, but I really want to become competent in studio lighting and working with models. I have a lot of ideas that I’m ready to explore. In the meantime I’ll just spend most of my time shooting what’s around me.
Many thanks to Holly for the above image of my cat, Bubbles. Links above for some of my albums. And if you’re interested here’s a link to notes from behind the coffee counter, a blog, where I have been known to rant and rave. Feel free to contact me at me at pu55ycat@mac.com
