2008 Events

2008 got off to a cold start on the Plateau.  Unfortunately (for Betsy) the cold wasn’t accompanied by much snow.  But we finally got some rain and were able to resume our hikes to waterfalls.  The first waterfall we visited was Northrup Falls.  We then visited the Smokies and hiked to Laurel Falls and Spruce Flat Falls.  We took a break from hiking to attend a Brad Paisley concert, but then went back to the Smokies to visit Husky Branch Falls.  We took a Valentine’s Day (actually two days) trip which took us to seven waterfalls.  This was followed by a trip to Arkansas to revisit waterfalls that had no water in November, 2007, when we first visited them.  Betsy arranged a surprise trip to Georgia to celebrate George’s birthday.  We next went to Texas to visit sons Mark and Bert (we took son Jeff with us).

In May we returned to Ocean Isle Beach in North Carolina and enjoyed beautiful weather and great seafood.  Another trip south in June took us to Charleston and Savannah.  We traveled to Buffalo in October to see daughter Kelly and her husband, and spent a couple of days in the Smokies in November.  We went to Mount Nebo in Arkansas in December to round out the year.

Between trips we worked in our yard and took care of our flowers.  We also worked in visits to waterfalls throughout the year.
