2009
I’m tired.
T-I-R-E-D.
Exhausted, out of energy, physically and mentally fatigued.
So tired that I look in the mirror and wonder if I’ve actually aged three years in the past week and a half. This morning, as I was getting ready in the bathroom after my shower, I had to tell my brain what to do. “pick up toothbrush...set it on the counter...find your toothpaste...it’s the one with ‘MOM’ written on it....ah...there it is...M...O...M....is that me? Yes, I think it is...unscrew the cap...put toothpaste on brush...turn on water...”
etc, etc. As you can imagine, when I’ am functioning at this level of brain power, staying ahead of the boys is really difficult. And every night when I go to bed I think , “THIS is going to be the night where I only have to get up with one child and not two or more.” Seth is going through some sort of feeding frenzy at night and Thomas has been sick (which means he’s up every night with nightmares, coughing, fever, etc.). I’ve had a bug, too. How could my body even have a chance to fight off viruses when I’m getting so little sleep? But every night I go to bed hopeful, and every night I am always woken up within minutes of falling asleep. I feel like I have been thrown back into newborn land, where I’m up every two hours, and I start talking to the faces that have formed on the textured wall in the baby’s room.
So that’s where I’m at. I’m a little sick and a lot tired.
...which will now help you to understand the miraculousness of the rest of this post.
-We got Sam’s birthday-video-invites done! If you’d like to see them, there here:
http://gallery.me.com/aaronmiller#100196
-We got a new couch for PENNIES off of KSL and I love it. (see picture below). I am exercising great restraint in not running off this very instant to buy fabric for throw pillows. Probably in a couple of weeks. Don’t worry, I’ll update, I know you care immensely.
-I got our new picture/art wall arrangement up in the front room. (a most sincere thanks to Michael’s weekly 50% off coupons...getting those frames only took about 6 weeks...)
-We went to a charity auction/banquet on Friday night and rubbed elbows with lots and lots of very rich people. All I have to say is that my cute shirt that I wore was from a thrift store and I can’t get enough of the irony.
-Lots more happened that I can’t recall (remember? TIRED.), but overall it’s actually been a really really good week... I’m slightly stunned; it’s been really really hard, but we have gotten so much done and carried on as usual (for the most part).

Now, onto the good stuff:
This morning Thomas was banging on the door yelling at Luke while Luke was going to the bathroom. Luke had locked the door (hm, wonder why?) and yelled to Thomas, “Thomas! Stop trying to open the door! I need privacy!” to which Thomas responded,
“I NEED PRIVACY, TOO!
LET ME HAVE PRIVACY WITH YOU, LUKE!!!
LET ME IN!”
Luke started laughing. Thomas got mad because he didn’t understand why Luke was laughing. See? Things are mostly normal around here. :)
and here are our most recent pictures of little Seth. Babies are just awesome. it’s just so funny / ridiculous to me that he’s the primary cause for my getting so little sleep. Shouldn’t it be something a little more insidious looking?
(and that second picture-- He finds those fingers all the time...)

Wassup Rhino.
Yes, that’s a “real” hamster ball.
Sam carries it around with him everywhere. He sleeps with it, he talks to it...in short: WE HAVE STUMBLED UPON THE BEST PET EVER.
